Students begin to learn more advanced movement, including syncopation and isolation of body parts. Some isolation work will be introduced to beginning students in this age bracket. Students will be introduced to basic hip hop vocabulary and the use of “counting” in regard to music and choreography. Beginning hip-hop focuses on moving without inhibition, comfort ability with unfamiliar movements, and development of musicality/rhythm. Participants in this class are able to actively listen and participate for a full hour of class time. Those who choose to participate will be required to register for the performance and the same dance class during the winter & spring sessions of class. The Theatre Company also performs alongside the dancers to make a more cohesive performance.
